Long Description:
Built in about 1912 or 1913 as the Annable Block, after its builder, one time Nelson mayor John E. Annable, the building is now known as Ward Street Place. The ground floor houses commercial/retail outlets, while the second floor is given over to low income housing. In 2012 a $2 million revitalization was undertaken. The second floor was converted to low income rental space in 2002 when the building was taken over by the Nelson CARES Society.

The vintage photo is from about 1930, while the later photo was taken in March of 2015. They were taken from across the intersection, looking north northeast.
