Long Description:
The three trucks are being stored outside immediately west of the Museum of Mountain Flying along Aviation Way on the eastern edge of the airport. Wearing faded red paint, this Oshkosh is likely the oldest of the three retired trucks.

ARFF stands for Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, which is what these trucks are. This is an Oshkosh which looks like a P4 chassis of about 1975 vintage. It's a 6X6, six wheel drive with flotation tires instead of duals. These came equipped with a pair of front mounted water cannons, a 1,000 gpm pump, 1,500 gallon water tank and a 180 gallon foam tank. The engine, a diesel of uncertain make, though likely a 400 hp Cat engine, is rear mounted, as is the norm for ARFFs. The P-4 was quite a hit with the U.S. Air Force, which bought more than 500 P-4s in the early 1970s.
