Long Description:
Located in southwest Abbeville county, this monodock is 832 feet in height and requires a climb of about 250 feet from the parking area. This site was mined for gold in the 19th century. Parson's Mountain has large deposits of the minerals prophyllite, andalusite, quartz, magnetite, and rutile.
There are currently picnic tables avialable and several hiking trails including one that leads to the Parsons Mountain lake and camping area. You can see for miles and miles from the peak as a good section of cleared of trees. There is also an Fire Watch tower on tape that is closed to the public.
