Long Description:
Pioneer Cemetery

This was one of the most interesting and oldest cemeteries we visited while in the area. It was established in 1888. There are approximately 35 grave sites most of which are of the first pioneers that homesteaded and established businesses in the area.

The Pioneer Cemetery is not longer in use, however it is a testimony to the courage and perseverance of those at rest here that helped establish the area.

Listed are a few of the headstone that we photographed:

John Popp born in 1886 and died January 18, 1944
Irene H. M. Parkinson was born in 1880 and died in 1965
Duncan Perley Simpson born in 1892 and died in 1974
Inscription:
W.W.I 1914-1918
LIEUT. ROYAL CANADIAN HORSE ARTILLERY
AWARDED MILITARY MEDAL
FIRST POSTMASTER AND FIRST
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE AT OLIVER
