Long Description:
A Confederate soldier stands about eight feet tall upon a base that is about twenty feet tall. He stands with his rifle in front of him, butt on the ground, with both hands around the barrel. Visible are his canteen, cartridge box and bayonet, and he is all but leaning on an upright log. A circle with a star in it is below him. Near the bottom of the base is "1861-1865," with an inscription above it:

The Dead and Living
of Ellis County,
Who Wore the Gray.
Banners May Be Furled,
But Heroism Lives
Forever.
