Das Sterntor war Bestandteil der mittelalterlichen Stadtbefestigung Bonns und wurde 1244 in der Sternstraße wenige Meter nördlich vom jetzigen Platz errichtet. Es wurde 1898 als letzter Teil der Stadtmauer abgerissen und anschließend an seinem jetzigen Standort aus Teilen des ursprünglichen Tors und Resten der Stadtmauer wiederaufgebaut.

The "Sterntor" was a portal of the medieval town fortification of Bonn and was built in 1244 in "Sternstraße", a few metres north of it's current location. In 1898 it was torn down as last part of the city wall and rebuilt shortly after in it's current position from parts of the old portal and remnants of the town wall.
