In Parke County, 1.1 miles east of Bridgeton, on the north end of the northwest abutment of a steel truss bridge over Raccoon Creek, 12 feet west of the center line if the bridge, a standard IFC&WRC bronze bench mark tablet, stamped, "PAR 11", 568.332 feet NVGD 1929 2nd Order.

This bench mark, can be found, as described above, on the abutment of the old Bridgeton Iron bridge. The iron bridge, was built, in 1892, using Whipple Through Truss construction. The bridge is 175 feet in length and crosses Big Raccoon Creek, about one mile east of Bridgeton, in Parke County, Indiana. This bridge was bypassed in 1991, by a modern concrete bridge, next to the iron bridge.

Bridgeton is an unincorporated community in Raccoon Township, Parke County, Indiana, United States. It is notable for its covered bridge, which was destroyed on April 28, 2005, by a fire set by an arsonist. A historically accurate reconstruction of the bridge was completed in October, 2006.

Parke County, Indiana bills itself as the Covered Bridge Capital of the World. It has 32 covered bridges, the most of any county, in Indiana.
