This marker is located on a brick building on 2nd Street in downtown Davenport. Its text reads:
“On this site was located the home of John Emerson, post surgeon at Fort Armstrong, and of his famous slave, Dred Scott. Erected by Hannah Caldwell Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, 1928.”
