Long Description:

The Tower Theater, a massive 1940 art deco movie theater, located at 421 Vernon Street majestically dominates the downtown of Roseville. It's sign literally towers over the the other buildings just as its name suggests.

The Art Deco building, which was built for the Lima and Peters movie chain was completed in November 1940 retains its original exterior, but its interior has been completely redone and modernized. The changes to the interior began in 1955, after a fire destroyed a section of the balcony. Operated as a movie theater until the early 1980's. In 1989 the city owned the theater thanks to local philanthropists, Angelo & Sophia Tsakopoulos who bought it and donated it to the city.

At that time the interior was gutted, though the lobby, offices and restrooms where restored to look like they originally did. In 2005 the interior was converted into a theater in the round. Currently the theater is used for live performances and by use of a drop down screen, occasional movies.
