Long Description:
This is a grand 'town church' originally built in 1246, by Sir Robert de Tateshale, where one needs to spend almost as much time looking at the outside as enjoying the inside.
The exterior is splendid in decoration and detail.
The imposing tower is massively planned: huge corner pinnacles; great battlements picked out in a kingsize chequerwork of flint and stone; enormous belfry windows with flattened Tudor arches - and above them, fearsome gargoyles.
