Long Description:
A tablet in the south wall of a drugstore, northeast corner of Locust and Jackson Sts., marks the SITE OF THE BROWNING HOTEL. Here died Nelson Kneass (1823-69), who wrote the music for the poem, "Ben Bolt" in 1847. Kneass had come to Chillicothe with a small dramatic and musical troupe. He was buried by friends in Edgewood Cemetery, where a gray-granite memorial has been in his honor. - Missouri: A Guide to the "Show Me State", Tour 9 , pg. 476

The corner continues to occupied by a drug store.  The tablet mention remains in place as described in the Guide.  Text of the tablet is as follows:
