Long Description:
Andrew Place was officially opened by the Mayor of the City of Shoalhaven. The building houses several small businesses such as a cafe (Hedgehogs) which is prominent on the overall photograph.

The plaque is in a lane way near the front of the building & is of polished aluminium so is highly reflective. Andrew Place was named in honour of Andrew Waddell who established A. Waddell & Co. which until a few years ago held the longest continuous newsagency license in Australia at over 100 years. Andrew Place occupies land beside the newsagency which was formerly a plant nursery & the hedge that can be seen at the front was retained as it is very much a part of Berry's townscape.

The plaque states: "Andrew Place" Named in honour of the founder of A. Waddell & Co. Andrew Waddell (1859 - 1950) officially opened by his worship, the Mayor of the City of Shoalhaven COUNCILLOR MAX ATKINS August 16th 1997.

Max Atkins was Mayor of the City of Shoalhaven from 1987 to 1999. A breeder of stud French Limousin beef cattle, Max Atkins lived (lives) in the Milton District in the Southern Shoalhaven.

The City of the Shoalhaven encompasses 101 towns, villages & localities with the village of Berry having a population of approx. 2000.
