Long Description:
This mill chimney was built in 1851-1853 by Lockwood and Mawson for Titus Salt and carried the exhaust from the steam power plant of the original Saltaire Mills. It is now Grade II listed.

It is built in Hammer-dressed stone and has rusticated rock-faced quoins to the base. Above this is a cornice on large square brackets, then the chimney, tall, square, slender and tapered, but plain apart from slit-like recesses along its height. It is topped by an inverted coved string course.

Unmissable from the main road through Saltaire, Saltaire Road A657, it is a stunning landmark rising up from the valley floor.
