Long Description:
This survey mark is placed inside the kerbstone on the footpath leading from Kitchener Drive beside Hughes Avenue to Harry Chan Avenue.

There is no evident painting or placard, but this marker could not be missed due to it's placement inside a rectangle of old concrete preserved at the edge of a very new concrete footpath surface. WanderingAus could not have found it during a three month visit to Darwin during 2011, despite walking up and down Hughes Avenue at least six times, as the entire footpath was fenced off due to construction works which culminated in the new footpath.

A short distance uphill from the marker is a stairway leading down to the WWII Oil Storage Tunnel Number Five, a popular tourist attraction. The entrance to the tunnel is about 100 metres east of the marker, on Kitchener Drive. The geocache GC3QF7H Tunnel Number Five Revisited By corunnaroad is at the opposite end of the tunnel, about 170 metres west of the marker, on Jervois Road, near the Deckchair Cinema. The tunnel runs beneath Hughes Avenue and Government House.

The geocache GC1QJ6V Waterfront Vista By CHEDENT is beyond the tunnel stairway near the top of Hughes Avenue. The geocache GCDBB1 Safety Stop By Tankengine is about 50 metres downhill from the marker, on the opposite side of Hughes Avenue. These geocaches are both popular for dropping geocoins and travel bugs, and are the reason for WanderingAus regularly passing the marker on numerous occasions each year.
