Long Description:
The historical marker on this building at Pikk 73 provides information in both Estonian and English. The following is the English version:

By the beginning of the 20th century, the shipping and trading company established by the Kock family in 1759 owned all the buildings on Pikk street, from Tolli street to the prison in Fat Margaret. A dwelling in the Gothic Revival style was built in 1900-02, to replace what used to be the police barracks that were in the service of the latter. The architect Rudolf von Knüppfer was inspired by the popular English Tudor Gothic style. The interior was simplified in 1938 by the architect Haermann.

The Soviet period housed the Journalists' Association and later the Tallinn department of the KGB. It was then converted to a children's library in 2007.
Group that erected the marker: City of Tallinn
