Dieses Denkmal wurde 1874 zum Gedenken an die Gefallenen des Deutsch-Französischen Krieg von 1870/71 aus 23 Gemeinden des Rheiderlandes (des ehemaligen Kreises Weener) errichtet.
Das Denkmal zeigt, für diese Zeit typisch, die Germania mit erhobenem Lorbeerkranz, ihr Haupt ist mit Eichenlaub, dem deutschen Attribut, umkränzt.

This monument was erected in 1874 to commemorate the victims of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 from 23 municipalities of the Rheiderland (the former district of Weener).
The monument shows, typical for this period, the Germania with raised laurel wreath, her head is wreathed with oak leaves, a German attribute.
