Long Description:
Mellette is located in northern Spink County, South Dakota. The area was settled by German, Norwegian, Irish, and Swedish immigrants and the town was incorporated on April 2, 1908.
It is the home of Northwestern High School, which encompasses the towns of Mellette, Northville, Ashton, Athol, Brentford, Chelsea, Conde, Cresbard, and Mansfield.
