Long Description:
This fire station, Station no. 23, has personnel working the retained duty system and has one rescue/pump appliance. It is part of the Essex County Fire & Rescue Service. There is a hose drying tower to the rear which doubles up as a climbing tower, and a large exercise area where regular emergency practice is carried out. Drill Night is Thursday.
There is no Emergency Call Box on the building, but there are several numbers for various other departments. The usual 999 number can be be used to call Fire, Police, or Ambulance.
The station comes under the East Command Area which is at Rayleigh Weir Fire Station in Benfleet, and the County Headquarters are at Kelvedon Park in Rivenhall near Witham. In 2008 there were 179 call-outs, no up-to-date figures are available, but between April 2009 and July 2010 there was only 1 hoax call, one too many.
There is often a police vehicle parked outside the station as it is used as a rest area for all emergency services.
