Long Description:
The weapons range is open to the public when not being used for live firing.

Long Beach South borders Jervis Bay which is a large expanse of water surrounded by national parks & minimal urban development, with a narrow deep opening to the ocean at Point Perpendicular. As such the waters are calm & protected. The beach has fine white sand & clear green blue waters. The dunes that back the beach are covered in thick scrub which can only be penetrated at two points to reduce damage to the flora .

Prior to travelling to the beach you should check with the staff of the BWR to ensure the range is open - phone 44483248. The BWR is on the road to the village of Currarong. The turn off is well sign posted. You pass through sentry posts & are given a map of the area.

There are no facilities at the beach other than a boat ramp adjacent to the parking area. You'll need a four wheel drive to get your boat in & out safely as you drive on the beach & the ramp is just sand. Popular activities are sunbathing, cricket, paddling, swimming, walking & boating. People moor their yachts just off the beach. You need to bring all food & drink as well as shade tents or umbrellas. There are toilets in the car park. There are no garbage bins as you must take all rubbish with you. There are no entry fees.

Vehicles (other than using the boat ramp) are not allowed on the beach & nor are nudists. Dogs are not allowed on the BWR so leave them at home. There are no lifeguards on duty but the waters are shallow & there are no waves.

The co-ordinates were taken at the sign next to the entry point for the beach.
