Long Description:
A preserved set of walls and foundation on the north west side of Pepper street. These make part of a tower from a 1st century Roman fortress.

The sign nearby reads:-

Foundation of the south-east
angle of the Roman fortress
wall and internal tower.
Built between a.d. 74 and 6.
In front of the wall was a
defensive ditch 9 feet deep
and 20 feet wide, which is now
filled in.
