Long Description:
In February 1870 Frank & Martha Raymond dug into the frozen hillside and built a small primitive home was built here next to a wagon road that led to Wall Lake and the Yankton Trail. A small house followed the next year that was enlarged over time to become a two-storied, six-room resort, a stage station and the Silver Creek Post Office.

The short-lived Deming Bros. Stage line made thrice weekly round trips between Yankton, the capital of the Dakota Territory, which included a Saturday stop at the Raymond house.
