This book explains how the Armory at Springfield, MA contributed to America's defense since 1795 to when it was decommissioned in 1968.

The Springfield Armory was a created as a military storage depot in 1777. The construction of an armory to manufacture small arms for the nation's defense was authorized by President Washington in 1794. Shoulder weapons produced by the armory have been used by the military in all conflicts throughout U.S. history. The armory also led the way in invention and helped launch the industrial revolution in America.
