Long Description:
This marker can be found in Sherman Park in Sioux Falls. The mound itself was plowed under by early settlers long before it could be examined by archeologists. The reason for the mound is unknown but could have been used for religion, funerals, ceremonies or astronomical purposes. This mound was built between 300 and 1000 A.D. and was present during the Woodland Period.
