Long Description:
This magnificiant ship played an integral part in protecting Freedom in America during WWII. Commissioned in June 1941, she steamed 246,970 miles, served in Europe and the Pacific, destroyed 64 enemy planes, was awarded 13 Battle Stars, and was in the the Naval Group that was first to fire on the homeland of Japan. She got the nickname Battleship X when baddly shelled, to prevent the Japanese from discoverying they hadn't actually sunk her, as they believed.
