"Gules, three Mullets of Six Or, in chief a Barullet wavy Argent." (Flags of the World)
The white wavy bar represents the river Birs, that is also part of the community's name. The stars symbolize the Sternenfeld (Star's field), an important area in the North-East of town.
(The black and white flag next to it is the flag of Basel-Stadt, although Birsfelden is in Basel-Landschaft!?)
