Long Description:
Not very much history has been left about this Tower, other than it was built during the Americian Civil War. It is located on campus of LMU in Harrogate Tennessee behind the the old home of A. A. Arthur that was built in 1889-90. The home was latter used as the girls dormitory and then a conservatory of misic. During research on this tower I found an old photo in too poor of condition to upload that shows the tower with a pointed roof and gun turrets that look like an old Castle on top, which are missing now. I first thought it was an old silo until I looked closer and saw the missing stones were gun ports, three columns high. Both Armies held this area, which was in cannon range from the Cumberland Gap. No signs of any shelling to the tower.
