Long Description:
These Rocky Mountain Bighorn Rams are on the west side of the (former) U.S. Post Office and Federal Courthouse (now the Byron R. White Federal Courthouse) adorning the staircase. They were created by Denver artist Gladys Caldwell Fisher (1907-1952) and sit at the southwest entrance. Fisher completed the sculptures, with help from two assistants, working under the Works Progress Administration in 1936. The Depression-era Treasury Relief Art Program (TRAP) funded this project. They are made of Indiana limestone. The Bighorn Sheep is the Colorado State animal. (Excerpted from Wikipedia (visit link) and (visit link)
