Long Description:
Broad lock (No. 5) on the Trent and Mersey Canal. Situated near the village of Swarkestone, a few miles south of Derby. A nearby canal milepost indicates: 5 miles to Shardlow, 85 miles to Preston Brook.
Close to the lock is Swarkestone Junction which leads to a small canal arm. This is all that remains of the closed Derby Canal at this point. It is now used as a private mooring.
