Long Description:
The USS Hornet is a decommissioned Navy Aircraft carrier that has been lovingly restored and turned into a museum. Fighter plans, helicopters, space capsules, weapons, and other parephenalia are exhibited. The museum is open daily, but look for special annual "living history" days when many parts of the ship are in operation and special tours are offered. House-sized elevators move aircraft and visitors to the flight deck on these days. The museum also offers volunteer opportunities and an overnight program for youth.
