Long Description:
Kendal Town Council is the third tier of Local Government for Kendal, equivalent to a Parish. Above the Town Council is South Lakeland District Council and above this is Cumbria County Council. There are fourteen electoral wards within Kendal and two councillors are elected (4 years) for each ward, making 28 on the Council.

Their budget, raised from the rates, is around £223,000 in 2007/8. Interestingly, approximately 50% of it is spent on administration, £110,000. For every £1 spent on useful projects or grants to local groups, £1 is spent holding elections and paying admin costs, ie. 100% cost loading.

To the west of the town a high limestone ridge rises to 230m - Scout Scar. To the east is Benson Knott at 317m. Neither of these quite make it into the Town boundary. The line cuts across just before the old race course below Scout Scar, near Bradley Field, at a height of 140m.

To the east the boundary includes Oxenholme but not the Helm. It runs north-east past The Park, before joining Hayclose Lane at Windy Hill. It then follows the high road of Paddy Lane past Singleton Park Farm. After this the road drops and the line heads back down towards Morrisons retail park.

The highest spot is just before Singleton Park Farm, two summits on the road are just over 200m and probably the northerly one is slightly higher.
