The original (and outdated) description from the "Report of the Superintendent of the Coast and Geodetic Survey Showing the Progress of the Work from July 1, 1910, to June 30, 1911" follows:
The station is south of the central part of a field belonging to Mr. William Wright, northeast of the negro cemetery and about one-fourth mile north of the courthouse. It is 134.2 feet north of the northeast corner of this cemetery and 168.3 feet northeast of its northwest corner. The station is marked by a limestone post 6 by 6 by 30 inches projecting 6 inches above ground and lettered U. S. C. & G. S., 1910.
