Long Description:
This is a striking field of boulders that is approximately 44 feet by 1800 feet in size and about 12 feet deep. It was formed not by glaciers but by glacier related climatic extremes on rock outcrops.
Over time freezing and thawing caused the splitting apart of these outcrops and the gradual movement of the boulders down slope to their present location. This field has remained essentially unchanged for 20, 000 years.
This is a registered National Natural Landmark and is protected and set aside as a natural area.
It is located in Hickory Run State Park.
