Long Description:
The late Peter Dolmans writes in his book "Lincolnshire Windmills - a contemporary survey...

“One of the group of tall six sail mills once to be found in the county this is dated 'H.B.1867'. It seems to have not enjoyed much prosperity later on because as each sail was lost it was not replaced, the other ones being juggled around to maintain the balance. It ran therefore with the intriguing sequence of 6, then 4, then 2 and finally 3 sails, in which form it finished work in the 1920's or early 1930's.

It stood until 1942 with three sails and due to its bizarre (and possibly unique) appearance was the frequent subject of visits by mill enthusiasts during the 1920's and 30's and is one of the most photographed mills in the county. As late as 1961 the cap frame and windshaft were still in place but these have now gone. Access is difficult so at present it is impossible to establish the condition of the interior. Now that the tar is wearing off the tower it is possible to see the unusual banding in the brickwork. The iron reefing stage remains in bad condition at second floor level, having been swiped by various sails at intervals as they crashed to the ground. As previously stated, six patent sails were carried. The brakewheel and all the gearing was of iron and four pairs of stones were driven. The mill is now disused.”

2007. Remains derelict.
