Long Description:
Although this cemetery does have a separate lane to it, the lane crosses through some private fields. You should stop at the house and let the folks know that you intend to visit the cemetery, if the folks are there. When I did that, the lady of the house said, "Sure!", and then she went on to warn me of some rather deep "wheel holes" in that lane, especially at the last gate (of 3) -- the one right at the cemetery itself. All 3 gates were open at the time I visited. You turn onto the cemetery lane at
N36°32.389' W93°57.841'
at which point I paused to take a photo of the cemetery lane to include in the photo gallery.

According to FindAGrave, at the time of this Waymark posting, there were 15 interments at the Barnes Cemetery, and the latest burial was from 1952. Although there were a couple of graves without dates, the earliest recorded burial is from 1862. Everyone interred here is either a Barnes, or their grandparents were Barnes.

I suspect that the cemetery was used up through the time that the state route MO-37 simply followed old existing roads, such as FR1062, and before it (and others like it) were rerouted to use nice new rights-of-way and pavement during the infrastructure improvements of the 1950s (such as the beginning of the interstate system). When MO-37 "came into its own" this old cemetery was no longer along a busy road.

Edit 2015/4/8: Having talked to the former pastor of the (now abandoned) Maple Grove Church of Christ, he told me that he was tasked, with others, to dig down to a grave and pour someone's ashes over the grave of their loved one a few years ago. At that time the cemetery was in a horrible state. But a member of one of the families came along and cleaned it up, picked up fallen-over head stones, and so on. So there is at least one more recent interment than in 1952, which was not recorded in FindAGrave.
