The cornerstone for the present church building for the parish of St. Stephen was laid on the 4th of July, 1903. The building was dedicated in October, 1904. St. Stephen's was historically a Slovenian parish.
The church is on the National Register of Historic Places (as a contributing building in a group of five ethnic parishes).
