Long Description:
This benchmark is set into the southeast, or British Columbia, side of the base of concrete boundary monument I-B on the British Columbia/Alberta border. The exact centre of the boundary monument simultaneously defines a turning point of the zig-zagging southern portion of the BC/Alberta border, the boundary between Kootenay National Park and Banff National Park, and also sits exactly on top of the North American continental divide. Theoretically, water poured onto the benchmark would eventually flow west to the Pacific Ocean, while water poured on the other side of the concrete monument would flow east to Hudson Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

This benchmark was surveyed as part of the Canadian High Precision 3D Geodetic Network. Its precise elevation was determined in 2002 to be 1643.346 metres above sea-level.

This benchmark is not listed in BC's MASCOT database, but is listed in the Canadian Spatial Reference System database of passive control networks, here.
