When driving down Highway 200 through Sanders County we noticed that each and every town, no matter how small (and some of them are positively tiny), has a senior centre. One exception is the community of Paradise, just down the road, as this one encompasses that community, as well.
Plains, being somewhat larger than the norm here, is no exception and has a nice building for the use of the seniors. Their centre even has an attached garage for the seniors' bus. When we visited either the seniors from Thompson Falls were visiting or the Plains seniors were borrowing the Thompson Falls bus, as it was parked out front. The building itself was closed, though, and no one was around.
This is another senior centre that houses a food pantry and "Meals on Wheels", serving meals at noon on Wednesdays and 5:30 PM on Fridays. Meals on wheels goes out every day at 11 AM except weekends.
