Long Description:

The depicted circular stone tablet, set in pavement of the South Bank promenade close to the Oxo Tower in London, commemorates the opening of the The Queen's Walk official walking route by Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II in 7th December 1988. The Queen's Walk is final part of the Silver Jubilee Walkway opened in 1977.

The Queen's Walk is a promenade located on the South Bank of the River Thames in London, England, between Lambeth Bridge and Tower Bridge. The path is signed as "The Queen's Walk", but is casually referred to as the South Bank Walk. The creation of pedestrian access along the south bank of the Thames was seen as an integral part of the creation of the Jubilee Walkway to mark the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 1977. However, the last section was not established until the completion of construction of London Bridge City c.1990 [wiki]

The tablet bears following inscription:

THE QUEEN'S WALK
SILVER JUBILEE WALKWAY 1977
This part of the Silver Jubilee Walkway
opened by Her Majesty The Queen
7th December 1988

Queen Elizabeth II was born Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary on April 21, 1926, in London, to Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI), and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. She married Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh in 1947, became queen on February 6, 1952, and was crowned on June 2, 1953. During her reign, she has tried to make the British monarchy more modern and sensitive to the public.
