In 1940s–1950s, small-sized fishing trawlers were the most popular among the fishermen of the Klaipeda Region. In 1948, the first two Finnish-made small-sized fishing trawlers with metal cribs and wooden bodies arrived to Klaipeda Seaport from Tallinn. The small-sized trawler "Kolyma" was built in Finland, Raunis Shipbuilding Yard in 1949. The vessel is 23.6 metres in length and 6.5 m in width; it has the broadside of 4.5 m in height and Diesel engine capacity of 200 hp. Displacement – 162 tons. The ship crew consisted of 11 persons. The vessel could sail autonomously for 100 days. These small-sized trawlers were used for fishing in the Baltic Sea until the mid 1970s.
