Long Description:
1917 - A Sunday School Hall was built in Hammer Park and Fr. Germain Ball, OSB, was given permission to offer Mass that summer.
1918 - Permission was granted to build a parish church.
January 15, 1919 - South Greensburg Land Company sold two acres on Reamer Avenue and Poplar Street to the Parish.
August 1919 - Fr. Gilbert Straub, OSB, was appointed to organize the new congregation, Sunday School Hall and two acres of land.
August 24, 1919 - Mass was celebrated in the Sunday School Hall and the first Baptism took place: Gilbert Clarence Weimer.
November 11, 1919 - Ground was broken for the new church.
February 22, 1920 - The first Mass was celebrated in the new church.
May 2, 1920 - the new church was blessed and dedicated by Most Rev. Regis Canevin, DD, Bishop of Pittsburgh.
June 2, 1920 - Fifty candidates were confirmed.
July 18, 1920 - The first First Holy Communion class.
August 15, 1920 - The BVM Sodality was formed with 63 members.
