Quick Description: A short 1½ miles north of East Hope, at a pullout on the west side of Highway 200 is this Idaho Historical Society Marker marking the geological site of Lake Pend Oreille.

Long Description:
The marker tells us that Lake Pend Oreille is the remnant of Lake Missoula which once was a huge lake dammed by glacial ice. Huge flows caused by the lake's breaking through ice dams carved many large features in the land, including Lake Pend Oreille.
