Long Description:
Per the community website (, the town was developed before the Civil War as the supply center for an extensive farming and ranching community. Its location was set due to be a desirable stopping point for stagecoaches.

In recent years, the town has benefited from its central location within Hays County to have the consolidated high school nearby.
