The church and the convent were built in 1406 for the Benedictine nuns: the church was consecrated in 1426 and restored with the cloister by Girolamo Ammannati at the beginning of the XV century; in 1741-47 it was completely reconstructed by the Pisan brothers Giuseppe and Francesco Melani, architects and painters. From 1668, the complex incorporates the churc and the convent of Saint Girolamo of the Gesuati. The convent was suppressed in 1786 and became convente school in 1809. the church has an aisleless plan and keeps XVII century paintings by Tommaso Tommasi, Guiuseppe Grisoni and Antonio Luchi. In The convent, traces of frescoes and a columm from the XII century; in the cloister (formerly convent of Saint Girolano), graffiti and frescoes with the "Life of the blessed Filippo Gambacorti" (XVI-XVII cenury).
