Long Description:
The Haldimand County portion of the Chippewa Trails runs approximately 6.7 kms, and is a part of the Trans Canada Trail. This trailhead is located at the northern terminus of the Haldimand Chippewa Trail, located near the intersection of Haldibrook Rd and Ferris Rd. There is limited on-road parking here for 3 or 4 vehicles. Additional parking for this section of the trail can be found at the spot where this trail intersects with Unity Rd and with Haldimand Rd 66.
The trail surface is fine crushed gravel, and is in excellent condition as of Oct 2013. This section of the trail was officially opened in May 2013. It follows along an old railway bed, extending from near the intersection of Stone Church Rd and Dartnell Rd in the City of Hamilton, to Haldimand Rd 66 northeast of Cayuga. From there, the trail proceeds along a number of on-road and off-road sections before joining to the Caledonia Riverside Rotary Trail along the Grand River.
