Long Description:

Originally built in 1912 as a Carnegie public library, this Beaux Arts style building was acquired by Willamette University, renovated, and dedicated as the Oregon Civic Justice Center by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on September 12, 2008.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg was born March 15, 1993 in Brooklyn, New York and is an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. She was appointed to her post in 1993 by President Clinton and is the first female Jewish justice on the Supreme Court. She filled the seat vacated by retiring justice Byron White. Ginsburg is generally considered to be part of the "liberal wing" of the Supreme Court. A graduate of Columbia Law School, Ginsburg is a strong advocate for the fair treatment of women and is active in the ACLU Women's Rights Project.
