Long Description:
The fountains form part of the Barnsley Pals Centenary Square along with terraced gardens. These are beside Barnsley Town Hall and were opened on the 13th September 2013 to mark the centenary in 2104 of the men of Barnsley who voluntary enlisted into the army in WW1, also known as The Great World War. Over 1000 Barnsley men joined.
They went into two battalions, 13th and 14th York and Lancaster Regiment, and they were known as The Barnsley Pals.
