"Manuel Vieira de Matos, Poiares (Peso da Régua), 22 de Março de 1861—Braga, 28 de Setembro de 1932 (71 anos)) foi bispo da Guarda, arcebispo de Braga e fundador do Corpo Nacional de Escutas - Escutismo Católico Português.
Em 1 de Abril de 1903 foi nomeado bispo da Guarda.
Em 1 de Outubro de 1914 foi nomeado Arcebispo de Braga."

"The Mother Church of Caldas das Taipas was inaugurated on April 11, 1915. By the benevolence of the Ex.mo Count of Agrolongo that endowed the beautiful church of a comely and slim cut in the classic Byzantine style, a bit modified by the requirements of modern taste."

THE PERSON
"Manuel Vieira de Matos (* 22 March 1861 in Poiares (Peso da Régua), Peso da Régua, Portugal; † 28 September 1932, in Braga, Portugal) was Bishop of Guarda, Archbishop of Braga, and the founder of the Corpo Nacional de Escutas - Escutismo Católico Português.
On 1 April 1903 he became the Bishop of Guarda, and on 1 October 1914 he became Archbishop of Braga.
In Braga in 1923, Manuel Vieira de Matos and Dr. Avelino Gonçalves founded the largest Scouting organization in Portugal, the Corpo Nacional de Escutas - Escutismo Católico Português (CNE). In 1929 the organization was accepted as member by the World Scout Bureau."
