Long Description:
SOLDIERS AND SAILORS MEMORIAL ARCH, beneath which a sealed box, imbedded in concrete, contains the life histories of 27 men of Grundy County who were killed in the World War. Left of the arch are 27 elm trees, dedicated In 1920 to the memory of the "silent victors.". - Missouri: A Guide to the "Show Me State", Tour 9 , pg. 475

The memorial arch located in Moberly Park is much as described in the Guide except the elm trees are no longer present.  It is inscribed: " To Grundy County's Silent Victors 1917 1918"     The memorial was rededicated July 4, 1990 to honor all veterans who served in World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam
