Long Description:Visitors to the
Palm Desert Historical Society will notice a bronze sculpture of a boy playing tug-of-war with his dog near the front entrance. The work is by artist Ann La Rose, who hails from Loveland, Colorado and operates a studio called
La Rose Bronze Sculpture Std. I could find no other information on La Rose online. La Rose signed this sculpture with a copyright date of 1992 and it is also numbered nine of 31 sculptures of this series.
The sculptures of the boy and dog are very playful in nature and are somewhat of a surprise piece in contrast to the other very historical objects in the front yard and inside the museum that focus on firefighting equipment. This historical society building was formerly a volunteer fire station and Palm Desert's very first firehouse, built in 1951 and turned over to the historical society in 1983.
