This special commemorative tree has a plaque which reads:

'Anne Frank's Tree
To commemorate Anne Frank and all
the children killed in wars and conflict
in the twentieth century.

Planted on 15th May 2000

'The white Horse-Chesnut tree was planted in May 2000 by the Mayor at the time, Carole Maxwell Ellis.

It was planted as a council initiative to mark the special day of remembrance.

The species of tree was chosen especially and has a specific meaning behind it.

Anne Frank mentioned Horse-Chesnut trees in her diary and said she could see them from her attic.

Since then, the tree has become a symbol of her world renowned and iconic tale.'
